Boulder Biodiesel is a coalition of individuals and businesses who advocate the use of biodiesel as an renewable fuel source. In response to the numerous environmental and social problems associated with petroleum fuels, we are acting on the urgent need to utilize local resources to develop an alternative fuel source within our own community. Biodiesel is unique in its ability to support this goal since it can be produced in small batches using low-cost technology and readily available materials.
We provide information regarding the implementation and usage of biodiesel, as well as instruction and assistance to those interested in making biodiesel themselves. We hold seminars and hands-on demonstrations, petition appropriate local transportation and fleet systems to convert over to biodiesel, promote the advantages of biodiesel in the media, and network with other organizations working for alternative energy solutions.
Biodiesel is the most cost effective alternative fuel available on the market, however much of the infrastructure is still lacking. Biodiesel can reduce our dependency on foreign oil, create domestic jobs, reduce impacts on our health and the environment, and stimulate the rural economy. There is no difference from petroleum diesel in terms of engine performance and wear and is currently used by governmental fleets, school districts, and transit authorities.
